Corporate AI Titans warn us that unchecked AI is hurtling us toward a dystopian future. And it will happen faster than most can perceive, due to the existing infrastructure and the need to fund it. This leaves the question of whether the human race will insist on change before it's too late.
Mo Gawdat, the former Chief Business Officer at Google, believes this to be what most likely happens. He believes that we will first enter a dystopian era, then emerge into a kind of Utopia after twelve to fifteen years. Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Altman, and Yoshua Bengio, a pioneer in AI, have all expressed similar sentiments about this dystopian likelihood.

Forest was sure that when the scientist told the President of the United States during World War II that a bomb that could fit in his limo could blow up an entire city, he felt the same way. The shock then stopped him momentarily, realizing the bomb was Ellie, and he was potentially one of the civilians at Nagasaki looking up, wondering what's that. . .
